Dog portraits

This morning I  did a stint as a volunteer steward at our local arts centre for the annual Autumn Art Fair. There was a variety of paintings in many types of paint media, pottery, jewellery etc. They were all professional artists , some were local but many had stayed overnight nearby for the three day show.
I had a good look at these pet portraits, which were in oils and priced at £750, because my nieces husband does amazing pet portraits . I think his, which are usually in acrylic, are much better than this with more detail and I know he doesn’t charge anything like £750. We have one of my sons dog…Libby …who now lives with us.

My task as volunteer steward today was to ask visitors to do an exit survey. As I was doing the early shift this was fairly pointless…I only managed to do two as not many people were leaving  by 11am when I left as it had not opened to the public until 10am.  I will be giving feedback to the volunteer coordinator !   However I had plenty of time to have a good look round at all the stalls and chat to some of the artists too.
See extra for a view of the inside of the venue….it is a Victorian  church which fell into disrepair when it stopped being used in the 1970’s but was rescued and converted into a concert/exhibition venue about 27 years ago. I liked the artwork in the foreground, nice bright colours.

After I went to the allotment and did some more clearing, got rid of all the runner beans and dismantled their tripod, there are still some flowers and the leeks are looking healthy. On my next visit I need to dig up some Jerusalem artichokes  and see if they are plump enough to eat.

We had several showers but it’s now sunny again so I will take Libby for a walk.
