Cup Winners!
After last years disappointment of losing in the final this year it was a time to be jubilant!
The WRU get criticised for a lot of things, but I must admit the whole day final is a really good idea. Okay it's not like the old days when the old Arms Park used to be packed, but people forget it is also about the players not the fans. Some of the players who turned out for the six clubs represented in the bowl, plate and cup finals may never get another chance to run out on to the Millennium Stadium pitch. So hats off to all the players from Wattstown, Goodwick, Rhydyfelin, Heol Y Cyw, Neath and Pontypridd. And congrats to the earlier winners in the day, namely Wattstown and Heol Y Cyw.
As for a final, it was a tense affair for seventy minutes, with Neath tackling themselves to a standstill with the scores pretty close. In the end Ponty's patience won out, and after umpteen phases we put clear daylight between the teams, and a try at the death made us comfortable winners 13-34.
This is just one step in our third attempt at the double in as many seasons. We don't have a game now until the 18th May, and that is our play off final for the league ... I may have mentioned it before but I hate play offs!
Had a few celebratory beers and curry in the Mouchak! What a fantastic day!
Ole Ole Ole!
