Diving into summer

Today was warm and sunny, gorgeous. And I had most of the day off, leaving the students to their own devices to get started developing their projects.

Stretching out the day, sitting by the lake in the morning cool reading, trail running, canoeing, and even jumping in the beautiful clear freezing cold of the lake. So what if you go numb and your breath stops in your throat? Once you have already lost feeling, well you've already lost feeling so why not enjoy it. So a quick dip and sun drying on the dock. Carrying that feeling of refreshment and contentment around with me all evening. Even dinner was perfect, salad and bison steaks followed by ice cream...Needless to say, another wonderful day up here and I can't believe how lucky I am.

Wading in the shallows of the lake this afternoon I snapped this shot. Contemplating the apparition of my own shadow staring back at me and wiggling my toes in the sand. The wind rippling the surface and the outline of my body a mirage in the back lit reflection of the sun.
