Gozo

We got up at 4am and arrived at the drop off place at the Airport at 5. Poor Mr C was there only the time it took us to get out of the car and lift our bag - he was charged £4. “How much!!! “ I can just hear him!

RyanAir was the pits - a huge queue for self check-in and only me in a mask. (Jenny had Covid 2 weeks ago). We just had time for a coffee (huge queue as all budget airlines go early). Flight was on time at 7.15 and we arrived in Malta at 12. The luxury - a man with my name on a sign met us and drove us to the ferry. It was about 40 mins through pretty run-down towns and arid countryside. There’s a lot of hotel building going on - Malta looked pretty built up. The low light coloured stone walls were reminiscent of Sicily which is only 60 miles to the north. We waited 30 minutes for the ferry which took us past Comino then reached Gozo in only 20 minutes. It was a quick 4 minutes up the hill to our hotel, arriving about 2.45pm. It’s the monstrosity on the right. It’s seen better days but our room is clean and we have a balcony overlooking the harbour. There’s a large pretty church on the hill and the view across the harbour to Comino and beyond it, Malta, is lovely.

Jenny had a snooze and I read my book till I got too hot and came in. I hope we can manage some walks but neither of us copes well these days with anything over 24. We have a bus pass so can explore even if we don’t walk far!
