Choppy Waters

The surface of the mere, or perhaps the UK and world in 2022.

An afternoon visit to Martin Mere. It was a fine breezy afternoon. Perhaps the most startling thing was seeing two cattle egret. Time was when the sight of a little egret on these shores would be exciting, but they are now well established breeding birds. Presumably cattle egret are now going to establish themselves here. The natural world’s response to the warming world is interesting, there will be winners and losers at the local level.
