Château de Nyer

I played some tennis in the morning before setting off to the pretty mountain village of Nyer. The castle doubles as an old people’s home but also as a restaurant. The location is superb and I can think of no better place to be a resident if it were necessary. About 20 of us gathered to meet up again with friends who went back to Ireland about five years ago but have returned for a holiday. The meal was excellent. I had a escalivade followed by seabass in a lightly spiced saffron sauce and a mascarpone dessert.
