Glendalough, Co. Wicklow

This is the upper lake in Glendalough, taken from above the crags on the south side of the loch, from a trail known as "the Spinc", from the Irish An Spinc, which translates rather boringly as "the pointed hill".  There are spoil heaps on the hillside on the right from old lead mines that were worked in the second half of the 19th century. The mine was known as Van Dieman's land, due to it's isolation from the nearest habitation.
