Black Head, Co. Clare
This is the view across Galway Bay to Connemara from above the lighthouse at Black Head. The stone structure in the left foreground is Cathair Dhuin Irghuis, supposedly an iron age fort but I cannot see where they could have got water from? The hills on the other side of the bay are the Twelve Bens and the Maumturks. The extras are a whinchat on a whitethorn and a wheatear, which surprised me in October as I thought they would be gone by now, but my RSPB book informs me that whinchats and wheatears are indeed around until October.
