Devils Frying Pan Chevin

Skipped a day so I could get back on track for an evening blip. Drove up to Ilkly yesterday and staying in a wonderful little cottage on Burley Moor. Took a long walk up on the moor to stretch my legs after tedious A1 drive. Had popped into Ilkly for a look around and to pick up some groceries to make some soup. Today I went to Otley to see the bungalow where my grandparents lived. As I parked outside and the gentleman saw me who now owns the house and I explained why I was there. He invited me in and it turned out him and his wife had bought the house from my grandmother 45 years ago. I was able to look around the house and reminisce with them. His wife walked to school with my mother and been to the St John’s cadets together. What a gift and I felt quite emotional afterwards. I took a long walk along the river and over the bridge into Otley town to see the parish church. Drove up to Chevin, where this picture was taken of the devils frying pan. I remember sitting in here with my grandad when I was a little girl and him telling me all sorts of stories! That is more than 50 years ago but I instantly recognised it. Back at the cottage now I’m going to take a long hike along the moor. It’s been a memorable day recalling parts of my childhood that were so special to me
