Rannoch

I left Berlin in the pouring rain, and when A picked me up from the airport we drove straight to Rannoch Station, where she'd booked a night at the Moor of Rannoch Hotel. She'd stayed there a year ago on the cross-Scotland walk with friends, and been so impressed that she wanted me to enjoy the experience. Although you can get there directly from Euston, Rannoch Station is wonderfully remote, being on the edge of Rannoch Moor, at the end of a long dead-end road, and with no phone signal. The hotel (which also has no Wi-Fi) is remarkable for the quality of its cuisine and being so dog-friendly that they are allowed in the (luxurious) rooms and under the table at dinner (see extra). Indeed, most tables had dogs. Django seemed a bit overwhelmed, though.
