Bassenthwaite Lake from Dodd

My thanks to all of you who have left hearts, stars and comments while we’ve been away. I think I’ve replied you you all but Im sorry that there has not been much visiting of your journals this week.

After overnight rain cleared through a lovely day developed with sunshine, warmer than of late with just a odd dribble now and again from some thicker cloud.

We visited Forestry England’s Dodd Wood site this morning. A customary scone and coffee were consumed before setting off on woodland paths for the summit of Dodd, another Wainwright, much easier than others this week but still requiring a bit of effort on well signposted tracks.

The views from the top were exceptional, much better than described by Wainwright. The whole top has been opened up by removing trees which hemmed in the summit. Todays blip shows Bassenthwaite Lake and the view north. The view south was just as good except it was into the sun, see extra.

In the afternoon we walked to Keswick for a look around, returning later in the evening for an excellent meal with Adam and Jane at the Fellpack
