Under a Walnut Tree

A quiet night with fog and rain to wake up to. We didn’t drive far to visit Grand ‘Gallo- Roman Grand’ a Roman Settlement. The tour started with a film to help us get into the mindset followed by a wander over the grounds trying to imagine the life of its inhabitants. The rebuilt amphitheater was some piece of work. Further along the village of Grand was a splendid mosaic floor.

When wandering around the village the cafe was made obvious with a few white vans sat nearby, it was lunch time. We didn’t fancy eating a three course meal, bet I regret this but couldn’t face it today.

A day of showers with a lovely sunny evening as we parked on tonight’s spot, an organic farm. The farmer appeared later and had a chat with John, in English, we are parked under a walnut tree and walnuts started off the conversation. The farmer told John to take as many as he would like.

As we sat eating two cats and a pheasant appeared on the ground beside us. The white cat ambled and sat soaking up the evening sun, the black cat was looking for food we think. Both have now disappeared.
