Birthday Mess

The country is in a bit of a mess at the moment, but here is a sweeter mess - Eton Mess. Actually it isn't that sweet or Gordon wouldn't like it. It is a concoction made with raspberries, meringue and cream and is something that even this non-dessert guy has taken a liking to. 

It is Gordon's birthday and we would usually have gone out for the day but, as we are going away for the weekend, he decided he would rather go out for lunch at The Bridge. So we did. We rarely have desserts at home or when we eat out, but at The Bridge the desserts are all made in the kitchen and are delicious. I had chocolate fondant, but Gordon was presented with the Eton Mess 'on the house' because it was his birthday. 

Tomorrow we are heading south again for more birthday celebrations.
