Whitby Day 2, Gothic Festival - backblip
‘The ultimate celebration of all things Gothic and alternative, the festival will return to its spiritual home between Friday 28th to Sunday 30th Ocboter 2022’ We won’t be there but I was very glad to have seen these beauties who posed for me gladly.
We decided to have another day in Whitby and went by bus this time, a no brainer for us with our bus passes and no parking to worry about. Gemdog goes free too and is a well seasoned traveller on all sorts of transport and enjoyed the journey too. Wanting to find out more about the town we took the open topped, hop on hop off, bus and got a much better view of the Abbey without walking up the 199 steps to it – amazing to think that coffin bearers had to do just that to take the coffins all the way up to the Church for funerals.
It was another beautiful Autumn day with lots of sunshine. We had a hearty lunch in the Dolphin Pub right by the swing bridge and a good view of the passing boat traffic. C and Mr HB went off to Captain Cook’s Museum whilst K, Gem and I had a good mooch round on now more familiar territory and a nice walk for Gemdog.
A quiet and peaceful evening followed and no cooking for K and I after our late and substantial lunch, just some light nibbles a G&T, or two then an early night as we will be up at the crack of dawn tomorrow to get the car parked and a good seat on the first train to leave Grosmont.
Extra: 199steps, Abbey
