Cold and Wet
What a shocker of a day, one that would belong more appropriately to the start or end of the calendar.
Our site is quite high at about 200m (600 feet) altitude and the continuous rain was trying very hard to be wet snow. On the drive home the temperature display on the car shifted between 1 and 3 deg C and on the highest section of road between White Bridge and Fort Augustus there was actually snow lying on the verges and adjacent hill side.
I am pleased that we actually completed our task today despite all the hurdles and delays yesterday.
Getting a blip image today presented the same problems as mid winter. I walked a very short distance to get a shot at the side of this wee loch and in the seconds that the camera was held roughly pointing at the water driving rain had put droplets on the front lens element. Another attempt, another second or two out in the rain, would have been even worse.
After a soaking even if you try and change in to some dry clothes standing at the back of the car you never get re-attired without the fresh stuff getting damp somehow. You then drive home with the heater going unpleasantly full blast to keep the windscreen clear and to restore body heat.
Only a shower and and another change of clothes returns some sense of thermal comfort; and if its Friday perhaps a glass of wine.
Good Weekend to everyone in blip land.
