Guesstimate Walk

This morning we walked with our Eastridge Walking Group, then I had my Pilates class after lunch and this evening we did the Guestimate Walk with Auckland Joggers. Having done the walk twice over the last two days, I took the two times and averaged them, then plucked a figure out of the air to put down as my estimated time. We had to leave behind any devices that could be used to calculate our time as we walked, so our iPhones stayed in the car and we don’t wear watches.

Mr MacD and I walked together. We tried to keep a steady pace, but at times I thought we were going to be too slow and towards the end I thought we were going to be too quick.  As we crossed the finish line I was astounded to learn that I had done the walk in exactly the time I’d estimated and Mr MacD was 2 seconds behind me, but 8 seconds ahead of his estimated time. This resulted in me winning the Guesstimate and Mr MacD being in third place.  Very exciting.  I was presented with the trophy in the club rooms and Mr MacD took a photo.

We had dinner at the club and it was a very convivial evening.  After we arrived home we watched episode 1 of series 2 of The Capture.  Such intrigue and drama!
