Alice in Wonderland

Well, at least I woke up refreshed today. 

I travelled into Liverpool on the train with my friend. We had signed up for the Alice in Wonderland adventure - an outdoor escape room type adventure. There were many teams taking part but you can start at any time during the day. Lots of people had dressed up for the occasion ... we didn't. 

The adventure took place on your phone, with GPS triggering characters popping up at different places as you approached. Each character had something to tell you, something for you to collect or find, or a clue to solve. It took us on a journey around Liverpool One and the surrounding streets. It was fascinating watching others and spotting who else might be taking part, some more obvious than others, obviously! 

The aim was to find and rescue Alice, which we did in 1hr 55mins. When we finished we were in 41st place on the leaderboard but a couple of hours later we had dropped to 100th and then fell off the leaderboard. Mind you, the next 25 places were all within a few minutes of us. We got one question wrong on the 1st attempt, which gave us a 1min penalty, then we failed the task of putting humpty dumpty back together again, which gave us a 5 min penalty, we got the rest right. It was all good fun. 

Once we'd finished we treated ourselves to lunch in a Vietnamese restaurant.
