Arena of Cruelty--
A Cockpit where two roosters were set to fight each other, sometimes with metal spurs attached. (Viewed through its narrow entrance; it was built originally ca.1660.) It's at St Fagan's National Museum of History nearly an hour from our hotel in Cardiff, where we spent a full day. The extensive outdoor museum includes over original 50 historic buildings moved from everywhere in Wales; it was fascinating. This pit was built ca.1660 and re-erected in 1970 for display. Cock fights were banned in 1849 by the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. (Yet again I could not find a link--but Meles has found one - see below.)
