Solidity
Scaled (worth a better look at the engineering)
Spring has arrived here in the north of England. Indeed, it almost felt like Summer had arrived with it on the same day. I was able to walk into town at lunchtime in shorts and a T-shirt. People were sitting out soaking up the warmth, as if they were actually defrosting after this long cold winter. Perhaps they genuinely were. The sun was bringing out lots of smiles too. There was a lot of good cheer about.
I cycled to and from work again, liberated in being able to wear shorts and a single top. Signs of new life were everywhere to be seen. Although it's been another gritty day at the office I somehow feel much lighter of spirit. It's amazing how a bright sunny day can recharge the batteries, even if most of it was spent inside at the computer.
I went back an even longer route tonight, via Cullingworth and past the Hewenden Viaduct. I've blipped this twice before, from the roadside, but the light was so intense tonight that I thought it worth crossing a few fields to get a closer perspective. I was drawn to this shot above others because I think it gives the best impression of the scale and the sheer solidity of this structure. It was certainly built to last, the irony being that it now only carries the occasional traffic of walkers and cyclists. The previous shots can be seen in the collection here. I'm sure I'll be drawn back here.
Thanks so much for the great response to the last two blips. Cycling to and from work is not leaving much time to spend here other than posting, but the weekend is almost upon us, so I'm hoping I can get out to see a bit of the virtual world that I've been missing this week. Cheers guys.
