Welcome to my abode

A face that only a mother could love and all cat lovers!!

A trip to Nottingham today to receive a belated Christmas gift, a visit to the Kitty Cafe. We parked the car at Hykeham station and got the train through rather than drive. About 40 yrs ago I did my District Nurse training at Trent Polytechnic in the city and for about half of the year long course travelled daily.

The city has changed so much over the years and we have visited very infrequently since we moved back to the area 7 yrs ago. I just don’t recognise much, without the map on my phone I wouldn’t know my way round. Such a mixture of beautiful old buildings, modern new ones, stuff being demolished and exteriors being very nicely tarted up. A picture in extras shows the young prizewinning artists painting their building.

We walked up to the old market square and looked round the stalls. Many of them had takeaway food from many countries, it looked and smelled delicious, very tempting but we were on our way to see the kitties and to be fed!!

The first cat the I saw when we sat down was this hairy bundle, not sure what sex it is, but it jumped up on my lap, had a good sniff round, stuck its head under my jacked. Once I was deemed to be safe it wandered off.

It was a lovely experience, the cats were friendly and curious. The food was good. The only slight complaint that we had was the delay in service. Our booking was an hours slot, so we were surprised to wait 30 minutes for our panini and wrap to be served, then another 30 minutes for the cheese cakes for desert.

It was a great day, the weather perfect for wandering about. Part of the purpose of the trip was to see how I manage from a fatigue point of view, in preparation for a trip to London. I was tired by the time we got back to the station on the way home and needed a nap before dinner. I wouldn’t feel safe travelling on my own in pushy/ crowded situations.
