Erlend and I are People who Lunch

Erlend and I had a valedictory lunch at the Pier Bistro in Stromness with IainatCreel and the present Mrs Creel and a jolly time we had too. Well, I had a jolly time but Erlend was a bit frightened of IainatCreel who couldn’t resist teasing him with a drowning in a tumbler of water and other scary manhandling, but he fell a little bit in love with CMC and was sad to see them leave on their holidays.

He was a bit overawed to see Phil Cunningham (of Phil Cunningham and Aly Bain fame) in the Bistro and wants me to take him to their concert tomorrow night in the town hall.

The town was busy with tour visitors from the mainland stravaiging in the rain. Unlike cruise visitors who have meals on board their ships the day tourists from John o’ Groats are in need of sustenance especially if it’s raining and feel they have stravaiged enough to warrant a sit down in one of the two cafés in Stromness. It is unusual to see queues snaking outside their doors.
