Waiting for breakfast
Despite the fact that Peggy Sue was, frankly, a useless hunter the very fact that there was a cat around must have made the birds keep their distance to some extent, as these days the magpies in particular are certainly bolder, even coming down onto the patio. The most frequent visitors remain the great tits and blue tits though and this morning was no exception. At times there were up to four blue tits clinging onto the peanut feeder nearest the house while others waited their turn nearby. Favourite perches seem to be the crook of a solar lamp, the leaves of the bog iris (my favourite but wasn't quick enough with the camera) and this water feature, where they can have a drink while waiting.
In other news: Daughter #1 did manage to pay her respects to the late queen with a 1am slot last night and was able to use the accessible queue to go in. Nevertheless she waited some hours to be given a wristband on Friday afternoon which gave the return time of 1 am this morning. I was able to see all that I wanted to from my living room, on many channels on TV. This evening we watched the first Paddington film, an appropriate choice of course. The second film will air on Monday evening
