Allotment 2022 onwards

Allotment word #21: pallet collar

I didn't know these existed, let alone what they were called in pre-allotment times, but they are a great way to build a small raised bed. This one is destined to be my new saffron bed.
I tried to grow some saffron crocus in an old butler's sink two years ago, but they didn't survive. So when I bought this bag of corms at the Wisley show, I talked to the stall holder about the best way to grow them. Hopefully this will give the drainage they need. Any other tips gratefully received.
Tomorrow's job will be weeding and then filling the collar with a mix of compost, grit and top soil.
Extra: the last courgette?
