Oeufs en cochette
Ah life affirming sunshine, at last. We've been waiting for you! Summer finally arrived today and you could literally see the glee on people's faces as they went about their daily business. This country was in dire need of this weather. I know I was! I had almost given up hope of sunshine and my serotonin warning light was flashing.
My husband had the morning off work so we shared the childcare and housework, whilst the unrelenting sunshine beat down outside; streaming through the windows willing us to venture outside at the earliest opportunity.
Just as we'd finally assembled ourselves (washed, fed, pram packed), a little pair of eyes peeked through the letter box. Audrey, strapped in her pram in the hallway, let out a conspiritual squeal of delight - it was my sister Jo popping in whilst doing her rounds in Chorlton.
So we all decamped en masse to a lovely overlooked cafe on the corner of Beech Road - imaginatively called On The Corner - for coffees and oeufs en cochette. The sun shone, Audrey chomped her rusk, sat on Jo's knee (see blip pic) and lunch was throughly delightful. It gave me a warm and happy glow.
Off to our friend Kate's for a baby singalong this afternoon and am currently catching some rays in the garden with a glass of lemonade whilst Audrey has her nap. What a blissful day. More of these please.
