Shanghai Mimi Band
Hubby spent the morning in the garden while I delivered the last of the leaflets around Parnell. This afternoon we had lots of open home signs to put up and the traffic was awful, so it took quite some time. When we arrived home we just had time to change and hop on a bus into the city. This is Cabaret Week at The Civic Theatre and we’re going to two events, the first of which was tonight - The Shanghai Mimi Band, which employs a unique musical fusion called shidaiqu - a blend of Chinese folk and American jazz fusion, which could only have come out of a city where musicians from every corner of the world lived and worked. It was an excellent, entertaining and most enjoyable evening. We left with smiles on our faces.
The main blip is from the show and the lady singing in the bottom right is a member of the audience, some of whom were invited to sing the most popular Chinese song from the 70s. They were all wonderful. The extra is a compilation of interesting things that I saw as I walked around Parnell this morning.
