Gone

Not my best photo today, but sums up my day of contemplation - both kids gone to Uni so for the first time I find myself alone, with an empty fridge and no stray socks or dirty dishes to clear away. I should be jumping with joy but feeling morose instead.
Watched the butterfly in the garden, it fluttered about, seeking freedom and dipping into here and there. It reminded me of the butterfly effect: a concept in the chaos theory: “the sensitive dependence on initial conditions in which a small change in one state of a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences in a later state.”
Which Uni you pick, which course you chose can have such a profound effect on the rest of your life, in all aspects of it! So even though my youngest has only left until the next term holiday, I feel something monumental has happened!
