Corners Unexplored
It doesn’t matter how many times I have come to Stromness there are always little alleyways that have never been explored. This is the garden of one of the houses on the waterfront and there is tree for all to behold. There are trees on Orkney but mostly they are stunted sycamores which seem to withstand the wind better. This one must be sheltered because it is taller than most.
I didn’t swim until 1pm today which was nearer high tide and I only had one swimming companion. The others ladies had gone in at various earlier times.
The sea was what I would call boisterous and it was possible to swim into the wind and remain almost stationary. The sudden squalls that had appeared at intervals all morning out of an otherwise clear sky didn’t materialise and so there wasn’t the indignity of getting even wetter as we struggled to dress.
