Lincoln Cathedral

Another day , another cathedral!
We stayed at Canwick last night, and today drove into Lincoln for a look around. The cathedral really  dominates the skyline of Lincoln and beckons to be visited. It is over forty years ago since  I last went to Lincoln and I was pleased to be back. We parked by Brayford pool and walked up the steep but attractive streets to discover this view. There were no tours of the cathedral and some parts were not open but we had a good look around by ourselves. It is built in the Gothic style and contains many intricate  details. There are various sculptures including  the Lincoln Imp, a naughty demon  turned to stone, which resides above the choir. Near the  cathedral is the castle which houses one of the original Magna Carta. Unfortunately  we didn't  have time to visit the  castle too, but we'll be back another time .Then we drove down  the A1 to Watford to visit my Mum, where we are staying tonight.
