Mallard

This morning we attended Choral Matins at the Minster where there was  beautiful singing from the mainly female choir and  female cantor.
Then we made a quick ascent of Clifford's Tower for views over York and beyond.
Next we headed off to the shrine of railway buffs: the National Railway Museum. We spent a few hours admiring the engines, carriages  and other railway memorabilia. I am fortunate(!) in having a husband  who is  a walking encyclopaedia on steam engines. Here he is with Mallard, surely  one of the most  famous steam engines ever. In 1938 Mallard broke  the  world speed record for  steam locomotives at 126mph. This record still stands.
Eventually we agreed it was time to move on, because we are staying in Canwick, near  Lincoln tonight
