"So Hard They Worked"...

...Some more nostalgia today - but can you imagine operating this old Timber Jinker - to haul logs - with a team of bullocks?

... The timber they carried was mostly taken into the saw-mills to be made up into building materials ..So dangerous it would have been if one or two smaller logs would have rolled, but this is just one big log, and the timber jinker with it's team and the driver cracking the whip to keep them going, worked this way, along the rivers here and also in the forests, not long past 100 years ago ..

... Many a man died if a log rolled, and so the teamsters had to be very aware of what they were doing at all times and - so hard they worked...
