...Back to the Old Homestead - for some more nostalgia...

...We don't want to live in the Past - but sometimes I think it's good to appreciate what our pioneers in every country have done in their time - with what they had and what frugal equipment they had to make do with, and what ideas they could come up with to make life easier...
The old spring-cart though, would have been a fine quality cart in its day, and I've blipped it before, but from a different angle..on the right is part of an old hand-operated drill; I'll present that fully at some time for you..

The big old wheel would have belonged to a larger cart. Maybe a smaller hay cart..my g.great grandfather, the Scottish pioneer, was run over by wagon wheel when he fell from the top of a hay cart, helping his sons...I remember several of them, different sizes, on our own property, just rotting away out in the open...

Yes, the days would have been fraught with danger at times but we all have ancestral stories to relate like this one, and yes, we may visit the Past days - now and then..to dwell awhile...
