Royal Town of Sutton Coldfield.

Our town was granted a Royal Charter in 1528 by Henry VIII, and was to be governed by a warden and society. The charter was secured by Bishop John Vesey. This unreformed corporation survived until 1885, when it was replaced by a municipal borough.
There is still a group who campaign to have it restored, called “Sutton Coldfield Out of Birmingham.” They have made no headway whatsoever in all the 41years we have lived here!
The photo shows a touching tribute left by a child, alongside formal wreaths laid by Town dignitaries. including our MP Andrew Mitchell, under the Coat of Arms situated in gardens just below Holy Trinity Church. (In extras).
Lots of shops have window displays.
People just want to show their respects for the Queen.
It somehow feels subdued when out and about.
In the meantime there’s hardly a breath of wind outside. It has been warm today with sunshine, which at times has been veiled.
We’re still collecting apples!
There was a Red Admiral butterfly on next door’s Buddleia, and a Comma on our Verbena.
I got my camera but they spotted me and moved!
