2022 Monday — Backyard Project
We are not going back to SoCal this coming weekend. The backyard project here won't be finished. Mercado told us this morning he could stop for a week or he could stop for two weeks; he said he has plenty of other jobs to keep him busy. Mr. Fun then made the decision that we're not leaving until the job is done.
Mr. Fun is putting off for a couple more weeks getting his blood work done. I will cancel/reschedule my dental appointment that is in SoCal this coming Monday. On one hand, I'm anxious to be in SoCal and on the other hand, I agree with Mr. Fun that stopping a job and trying to get it started again is not a good option. So, we'll stay here at the coast.
I think we are looking at 2 more weeks at least of construction work but it is really hard to predict -- we lost this past Saturday and Sunday because of the tropical storm that came thru here. The number of workers that are here on the job varies each day.
Mercado arrived at 8:15 this morning with a crew of 3 workers. They left here at 7:30 this evening. They accomplished a lot on the retaining walls and at the end of the day (last 2 hours) they unloaded a truck bed full of gravel from one of the large work trucks (they fill the big plastic Home Depot size buckets and carry them on their shoulder onto the lot next door and make a big pile of gravel).
I am trying to keep this all in perspective -- we met Mercado 2 weeks ago today. Only 2 weeks ago! The next day (Tuesday) we went to the Allen Block/paver company in SLO to decide on the color of block we wanted and that afternoon Mercado ordered 8 pallets of Allen Block. That Wednesday nothing happened here. Thursday morning September 1 at 7:00 the 8 pallets were delivered. The team worked all day that Thursday and the next (Friday) and then it was Labor Day weekend and a big celebration "Pinedorado" happened in Cambria (the community 12 miles north of us where most of the workers live), so a skeleton crew worked Saturday, Sunday, and the holiday, and then this past weekend tropical rain hindered work. So in 2 weeks we've made a lot of progress, but there is a lot more to do.
So that's my 2 week update.
Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
and Chloe & Mitzi too!
