Tui & Kówhai

I love tui, a native NZ bird with the most remarkable and distinctive call. Tui love kowhai blossom and are very acrobatic in getting the nectar. We had four in the garden today where we spent a happy time in the afternoon when Esme joined us after nursery. Earlier we'd had a long walk along the pristine coast at Paton's Rock. Later Esme helped me make a cheese and mushroom flan  and there were apricot jam tarts as extra treats - the latter went down especially well! We are now babysitting as Joe goes off to play badminton!

I am taking advantage of a bit of internet and catching up with the obituaries and tributes. Her Madge will be sadly missed, a woman who gave her life to the country with dignity and devotion. I salute her.
