Wood and Stone

"Wood and stone or flesh and bone... in the end nature wins.
A creeper vines crookedly up the old stones ...
upon which it depends. "

-- Julie Dant

After lunch, I decided to have a walk and visit the Swan Couple (Harry & Sally), and see about the progress of their eggs.. Apparently, they're still eggs.. Soon I hope.. Both of them are busying up tidying and sorting out their nest. Won't probably be long now..

Few yards away from the canal, there is this structure that we've always walked or drove past without stopping to see what it was there for.. I decided this was going to be my blip.. I kept going around looking for any signage or memorial plaque, anything to say what it was there for.. But there was none..

Swinton's history mentioned though that this area used to be good at boat building which started in 1770. A tradition which was carried on until today, although at a much lesser degree, by the Waddington Family. I supposed this 'sculpture', or whatever else you'd like to call it, does look like an abstract form of representation of a boat docked in a yard being repaired as seen in the mono (3rd shot down).
Squint a bit more, and you might see it..

Sad that they have't placed anything to say what it is there to represent or remember something by..

P.S.
I've asked a kindly gentleman neighbour, who used to live in this area, about this and he says it was a hull of an old boat and it was placed there to commemorate what that area used to be, an Industrial Site for Ships..
