Perpignan
we went into Perpignan today and saw some of the many exhibitions put on for the 'International Festival of Photojournalism' that's held every September. This year we decided to avoid the more depressing war related ones and the bigger venues. Instead we headed for just a few more upbeat exhibitions in the smaller venues. The extra is from the Hotel Pams , one of my favourites as it has a lovely interior and very pretty courtyard garden. The exhibition by Acacia Johnson is about pilots connecting remote areas of Alaska. It mainly features female pilots so thought it apt to show 3 women looking at it.
We had a wander around the poorer area of Perpignan, which happens to be where most of the exhibitions are held. This in itself although photographically interesting is also rather depressing . I'm sure this lad is far too young to be sitting smoking in the street. There is however a project to renovate the area and about time too. As long as the residents aren't then priced out of the market.
