The Old Grey Whistle Test

My Dear Princess and Dear Fellow,

Here's a slide from a presentation I helped prepare for Ellie yesterday. We were both very excited about it, but ended the day on a somewhat flat note. Ellie didn't get the feedback she wanted, and now appears to have come down with something today.

Nevertheless, here I am at home today and my mood is surprisingly good. Work is work, but the sun is shining and the birds are singing.

Cats are happy and I have a mug of tea.

And as I wandered around making tea this morning I found myself WHISTLING. Yes! Whistling!

If you wish to know, it was Stranger on the Shore by Mr. Acker Bilk and when I caught myself doing this, two thoughts LEAPT into my mind:

1. I must be in a good mood today.
2. How F*CKING OLD am I???

I recall the jolly whistlers of my youth. Cheery, tubby, older fellows they were. Blissful in their golden years.

THAT'S ME, THAT IS.

Also, "Stranger on the Shore"? Really? Not even something from the 80's? What's THAT about?

Maybe I've been possessed by the spirit of Norman Stanley Fletcher. It's the only valid explanation I have.

S.

p.s. Next up, pop-pickers! Theme From A Summer Place, followed by Side-Saddle by Russ Conway and On The Rebound by Floyd Cramer!
