2022 Saturday — Backyard Project Day 3
The first worker arrived this morning just moments after 8:00. His job was to shovel all the gravel out of the big truck and pile it up in the lot next door.
When Mercado arrived later, he explained that there is a big celebration in Cambria (north of us 12 or 13 miles; Mercado lives there); "Pindorado Days" are celebrated every Labor Day weekend. So most of his workers were involved in the morning parade thru town and the festivities in Cambria.
Sometime around noon several workers arrived; then the noise of the cutting of Allen Block with huge handheld electric saws and the pounding of the block into position began.
We were again amazed at the amount work they completed today, on Day 3, of the project. They dug rocks from our hill and placed them under the ramp. Much more retaining wall was built, and Mercado drove the empty gravel truck back to the shop.
We are still astounded that we only made contact with Mercado on Monday; they began the work on Thursday, and the project is this far along on Saturday. We aren't even doing the construction and we are weary. Having workers here 12 hours a day is a blessing, but also a little overwhelming.
