Still Empty

The Caltongate gap site, between Calton Road and the Canongate. At the far side of the site the backs of the old tenements on the Canongate, whille on the right is the new council office complex. Things might start happening shortly, although we probably shouldn't hold our breath. You can see the paths they put in for the temporary hotel they set up on the site in the Fringe.
I took the picture on the way to football at Meadowbank. My first game in months and my first time on the new pitches. Quite a different surface that holds the ball up a lot more like grass. Caught out a few times when the ball didn't skid across it as quickly as it used to do on the old pitches. Managed to score a goal early on, but then unfortunately one of the other team injured themselves landing awkwardly and with uneven numbers the game lost much of its spark. With an extra player we eased off and wasted far too many chances, while the other team worked hard but weren't able to get very close to scoring enough goals to catch up. Created a few goals for other people, but thwarted by the keeper and the crossbar I didn't add to my personal tally.
