Spoilt for choice

An opportunist capture as we drove over to R’s today. This glider came in to land over the top of us. Fortunately I had my phone in my hand at the time. I wasn’t driving, I hasten to add.

We visited Cobbs on the way home for coffee and cake, and a look at their new cafe. I was able to check out the geese that I saw and blipped last week. They were new to me and thanks to the information posters I now know that they are Hawaiian Geese. Quite gobby and in you face through the fence, but when Amber barked back at them they headed across the pond.

Home to do some dead heading in the back garden. I was snipping my new rose, a present from the nurses league, and saw a couple of caterpillars chomping away at the leaves. I went  to get my phone to take a picture and as I checked them out I found more and more!!!! Considering that I haven’t seen any butterflies in the garden this summer, it’s a bit of a cheek!!!

I’ve put a pic in extra as I’m not expert on caterpillars and would appreciate help with identification please!

One upon a time I would have sprayed the bush and then tidied up when the chomping had stopped. But today I chopped off the leaves with occupants and dropped them into a jam jar. I’ve poked holes in the cover for ventilation and put it in the potting shed. I will monitor progress.
