"Safely gathered in...."

Today  Cathleen started to make rowan jelly with our own apples and with rowan berries picked from around the hill -  plentiful in some places but less heavy a crop near the house this year.   My extra photos show a little more including Cathleen trying to pull down a just out of reach branch that had a few bunches and the finished product. 

My favourite season is autumn and that harvest hymn is now going through my head.  Harvest festivals in the local church were always highlights of the year for me as a choir boy  when I was growing up , for some reason,  and yesterday I was moved as ever by the sight of combines in the fields , busy taking that harvest in too , and being helped by warm sunshine.
