3 Months Summary

We came up here for the summer on May 27th.   Where has the time gone?   Actually much has been checked off the to do list…all the important things like the water system, new golf cart batteries, decks replaced, boats serviced, trails trimmed, all the wood split, and now the steps to the beach.  Lots of good quiet time in the forest and on the water. Books.  Drawing.  Photographing.  Cleaning and sorting.  Some knitting,  More neighbors than we’ve ever seen..Only leaving with neither the golf cart motor or  the tin boat motor working. ( the marine service people will pick it up and try again

Lots of family time.  Which resulted in postponing any decision about selling for at least another year.  My attitude is much better today August 27th than it was on May 27th.   Largely thanks to a smart and sensible cardiologist, I feel much better.   We’re ready to go back to the city tomorrow…. A bit earlier than our “usual” after Labor Day because we are Fiona and Maple sitting some of the time while Peter and Tatum go to London and Paris. 

There was only the smallest bit of wind last night and NO rain.  A disappointment after the high wind prediction and preparations!   Not a nice day tho’ so we put the alden rowing boat away. 

Haven’t had much time in the studio so tried to clean it up a bit more today… but I don’t think our car can take any more stuff.   Found some old ugly paintings  on paper and decided to cut them up …the paint surface is lush … I’m sure they’ll come in handy for some thing or some book :-).   And there’s Coral, the fairy that Fiona is working on.   Her lacy wings are in progress. 

Posting this before Cathy comes for dinner…. She sold her place and this is her last week!  Sad, but I’m sure we’ll keep in touch.   Maybe I’ll add an extra later.   Edit:   Cathy with her son and daughter who came to pick her up with her boat after a lackluster sunset, on our dock.   They will leave the island to the new owners on Monday.   But she can always come stay in our guest cottage if she has time out from traveling!
