Bongoyo

A day trip today to Bongoyo Island, a short boat ride from Dar es Salaam, and popular with city dwellers. Bongoyo is part of the Dar es Salaam Marine Reserve collection of islands, and it’s relatively unspoilt and peaceful. I spent a few hours either reading on a rock or lazing in the sand. Bongoyo isn’t a bad option for getting out of the city on a Sunday if you don’t mind rickety boats and getting absolutely drenched on the crossing (which created a deeper sense of adventure given that city skyscrapers were visible in the background).
