Nightingales .. and other things!

I went with my bird group to see nightingales today .. it was a new nature reserve to me (Whisby, in Lincolnshire) and it was fab.

We saw plenty of nightingales - and I agonised about whether I ought to post a photo of one .. but in the end have gone with this great spotted woodpecker.

I have never seen a nightingale before, and I loved seeing and hearing them - but they were tricky to photograph as they tend to stay inside shrubs or down amongst the leaf litter ..

And the only decent shots I've taken of GSWs before has been on feeders, so it's nice to have one in a natural situation.
