It Really Is!

Seemannia nemtanthodes flowering amongst the hot water plants in my front porch.  It really is this bright red colour, very striking indeed.  Native to Bolivia and NW Argentina, it's a member of Gesneriaceae, so related to Gloxinia, Streptocarpus and Achimenes amongst others.   A tender house plant, it grows from rhizomes and goes dormant in winter.   Mine were a gift (a plant swap actually) from a fellow blipper.

A very bitty day but the bits were good so it adds up to a good day.   Some garden time this morning before a meeting at Jamie's which went well.   We then adjourned to my place for lunch and to investigate a couple of things stored in my shed.  One was a three man tent that Jamie is interested in trying out on his own and potentially with Clara in due course.   Mid afternoon I made a quick change into my railway uniform and headed off into the drizzle to guard the last train of the day.   We chased the proper rain up the valley but never quite caught up with it, returning under ever brightening skies and some sunshine.  Home, change again, back to Wharf for an hour of cleaning then a late meal at Jamie's.   A gentle walk down Gwalia at dusk with Meg was an antidote to all the busy-ness.   Will try for a slightly less busy day tomorrow!
