Nocturnal fox

Pleasant day. Market shopping in the morning. Bought Claire Tomalin's biography of Samuel Pepys and a Michael Ondaatje novel.

Read in the garden for a few hours after lunch, same book as yesterday.  When I start reading its un-put-downable.

After dinner thought I'd sit in the garden and see if any bats appeared.  Just before leaving the kitchen saw the fox cub in the back garden.   The back door was side open so it saw me.  I'd left an egg for them and it had it in its mouth.  I waited inside until it had gone with egg.

Sitting in the growing darkness a fox, same or different, difficult to tell, emerged from the hedge at the side to appear in front of me.  It found a windfall plum then came (- extra)  no more than half a metre near me to sniff the plant pot which was in the pond just behind to the left.  We think a fox took it out of the water.

After the fox had gone back into the hedge i was rewarded with a bot swooping overhead.

Plenty of positives to remember before going to sleep.
Pleasant evening all.
