Last glacier

Near the end of the Chamonix to Zermatt trek, our last glacier and last hut today. So we took the easy way out of Italy - a series of ski lifts up to the border with Switzerland at over 3000m. Then rope up for the start of our last glacier. Quite a lot of zig zagging to avoid crevasses. This area is usually a summer ski area high up, but closed due to lack of snow. As it flattened we took the ropes off and were free to wander. And at the end of the day, at the Schoenbiel hut, a stunning sunset over the Matterhorn.
