Kevin's boat Leeds Liverpool canal.
The Feast Day of Our Lady of Knock, in Ireland.
Each day has many delights and different things to look forward to and I like to follow the way the weather and the seasons effect the canal in Rishton. This morning after seeing no boats or swans for several days, I noticed a boat moored up near the Canalside Cafe. The Father swan and six cygnets were preening themselves near the boat. It belongs to Kevin, who had just come from Church, a small town near Oswaldtwistle. There is a closed church there called Church Kirk, that dates back to the time of St. Oswald. The problem is the number of attenders got less and less and the building was not maintained. This sorry story is echoed across our land.
Kevin chatted with me and explained the canal water level has dropped so low, the Canal and River Trust has closed the canal to boats at this end and most boaters moved on in time, but he could be moored in Rishton until November. Fortunately, he has a cycle, and we have well maintained tow paths connecting us to Accrington, Church and Oswaldtwistle and Blackburn. I hope he enjoys his stay!
There are more roses to deadhead at The Esplanade, so while it is 16c and pleasantly cool, I am going to get on with that.
I told Kevin about blipfoto, so he may take a look.
Have a lovely day blip friends and thank you for visiting my site today.
