WITH A SONG IN MY HEART

By lizzie_birkett

Full House!

7 of us here!
Great fun, though I’m very tired.
Anna and the kids didn’t arrive till about 4ish as she got a flat tyre on the M6 and had to wait for the AA man then drive to Penrith to get a new tyre.
Tonya and Yurii had an English lesson in Skipton today and were also taught some Yorkshire dialect to compare.

Yorkshire English

Learning English is hard
But harder still in Yorkshire
‘D’ye fancy a cup o’ tea luv?’
‘Oh, this weather, worra a scorcher!’
‘Ey up lad, ‘ows tha doin’ ?
‘Ah yer settlin’ in OK?
Well, it’s bin reyt good ‘avin a natter
Let’s do it agin one day.

After that they got a bit mixed up with the bus timetable and were also late coming home.
The main is Anna and Arlo (10) entertaining us, he’s a proper little comedian.
I sneaked a photo of Poppy (12) too. She’s at that age! They’re both great fun and growing up so fast.
We thought we would have rain yesterday or today but no - the garden is dry as a bone even though I have watered things with the watering can.

Parched

It’s been spitting today
But that’s not enough
I want it to pour
I want it to roar
I want to hear it splatter
On my windows and doors

I want a thunder storm
To roll in and CRACK!
To clear the heavy air
Feel the rain on my hair
Fill up the reservoirs
Soak the veg and flowers

And when it comes
I’ll watch from my window
Or delight in a walk in the rain
And I will not complain
That it rains too much and -
From cursing I will refrain.

Anyway’ off to bed now - late! I don’t get much chance to Blip in the daytime so I stayed up after everyone had gone to bed. I thought it would be nice and peaceful but there is a fly buzzing around which I can’t see, it’s driving me mad!

Goodnight ;-) X
