Saturday: Memories
We’ve spent the day with various family members today. Lunch with one auntie and uncle and dinner with another. Suffice to say, we’re full to the gills. But it’s been great and we’ve had a lot of laughs.
Yesterday I talked about how strange it felt to be back. This street, though, in Fenham, Newcastle, is so incredibly familiar to me. My grandparents moved into a house in the middle of the street, on the right hand side, in 1947 and it stayed in the family until my grandad died in 2010, Grandma having died some years before. My aunt lived opposite for many years and my other auntie, where we had dinner, lives at the end of the road. So this street has been part of the family for as long as I can remember.
